From a very young age, I have always been educated about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, growing up in a house with two parents who are dietitians! The word “healthy” is thrown around a lot in today’s generation, and its meaning is now associated with the stereotypical healthy individual: six pack abs, skinny legs, and eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables. However, the persons mental and psychological state is not compared to, or considered.
The word “healthy” actually refers to “free from disease or pain : enjoying health and vigor of body, mind, or spirit; well”. There are so many aspects of health that have been forgotten, judging one’s health from their physical appearance. I believe that we need to separate the word “fit” from “healthy”- they mean two different things. We should all strive to live a healthy lifestyle, one that is full of happiness, mindfulness, and company, and less comparisons, negativity, and loneliness. We need to love and appreciate ourselves rather than striving and changing for perfection and acceptance. However, in order to feel like this, good nutrition and physical activity are essential. By this I mean eating a balanced diet and integrating small, but often exercise or movement into your day. Focus on exercising your body in a way that makes you happy- its different for everyone! We created this blog at Danny’s Place to encourage and empower others to live a healthy lifestyle, a REAL healthy lifestyle- not what it is made to be. We want you to disconnect from this obsessive, health monster that circles our social media feeds, and connect with yourself. Remember, you only have one life, one body, and one soul, so spoil them, do what makes YOU smile!
