Variety the Children’s Charity believes that all children should be able to follow their dreams and be the best they can be. No matter what life throws at them. No matter what their ability. Variety helps when others can’t and each year, thousands of children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, get support from Variety the Children’s Charity when they need it most.
Founded in the United States in 1928 ( the story is charming, read here) Variety provides support through grants for children and families including:
- Mobility equipment and wheelchairs
- Communication devices and education aides
- Medical items and services
- Therapy services, including occupational therapy and music therapy

Danny’s Place was lucky enough to be approved for The Variety Sprout Fund which was a new giving initiative of Variety SA. They offered eight organisations a grant of up to $150,000 over three consecutive years (2018 – 2020) and are committed to a total investment of $1.2m for the futures of SA children. It was offered with the aim of working with other organisations to achieve mutually beneficial goals that ultimately enrich the lives of SA children.
Since receiving the grant in early 2018, Danny’s Place has been able to extend our program and care to over 40 additional families that otherwise would not be able to access the service due to finances and the limited availability of public resources. If you need to access the Variety grant to be able to attend Danny’s Place, click here and follow the instructions on the form. (please add link to application form)
